Giving Back This Thanksgiving

It's official -the holidays are here!  As we approach the season this year, especially this week of Thanksgiving, we'd like to pause to say how truly thankful we are for all that we have.  It is an incredible blessing to live in this amazing city and work with the BEST clients, subcontractors, and suppliers around.  And it is a privilege to be surrounded by this talented, top-notch team here at Structures.  We have much to be thankful for!

In that spirit of gratitude, the Structure team decided to give a little something back to our community this season.  Led and hosted by Designer Kathryn Elliott, we pooled some resources and spent Saturday afternoon together assembling care packages for One80 Place, a local non-profit organization.  One80 Place serves the Charleston community by providing shelter and food as well as health care, education, legal, and counseling services to help end homelessness.  They have two facilities, one in downtown Charleston and one in Summerville, and they provide shelter each night for approximately 155 people.

Listening to statistics on homelessness in Charleston

Seeing the quality services and impact One80 Place has in our community, we jumped at the chance to help out!  The whole Structures family - including spouses and little ones - gathered to assemble bags filled with a few basic essentials that we'll deliver to One80 Place.  They will then be distributed to men and women who stay in their shelters.

We had a great time serving together, and we are grateful for an opportunity to help our community in this small way.  We would encourage you to check out One80 Place if you are interested in making donations or volunteering!

And the Customer Service Award Goes to...

We are thrilled to announce that Structures was a big winner at the Charleston Home Builders Association's 2014 PRISM Awards!  We were honored to receive the coveted Excellence in Customer Service Award given each year to the builder who exemplifies extraordinary customer service during their build process.  The best part of this award is that it is based on ratings and reviews from our clients themselves using GuildQuality, a third party surveying company.  GuildQuality gathers survey responses from each of our clients after they have moved into their custom home.  We are SO thankful for our wonderful clients and proud to give them the best building experience around!

Project Manager Chris Hulsey (not pictured) representing the Structures team at the ceremony!

In addition to bringing home the Customer Service Award, Structures also received a PRISM award for Best Single Family Home in its price range for an incredible DesignBuild project in Daniel Island Park.  This custom home was designed by Beau Clowney Architects and Project Manager, Dave Hargis and Design Manager, Deborah Way helped the home come together to perfectly suit the clients needs.  It is an honor to be recognized for this beautiful custom home.

"Cooking With Character" Houzz Feature

One of our absolute FAVORITE kitchens was featured again recently on the popular design idea website, Houzz!.  If you've been following Structures Building Company for a while, you've no doubt heard about or seen images of our beautiful, award winning Coastal Living Idea Home completed in 2009.  (If not, check out these blog posts!)  The home was featured in Coastal Living Magazine and this amazing kitchen has been featured (and tweeted, and pinned, and liked...) since its debut!  We love it, and greatly appreciate the attention it continues to receive.  Check out the recent Houzz feature, Cooking with Character, HERE!

New Meets Old on Isle of Hope

One of Structures' latest custom home projects is a great example of how vintage materials can be used in new construction. The owners of this lovely marshfront property in Mount Pleasant's I'On neighborhood are bringing a touch of old New England to their new home in the Lowcountry with reclaimed wood timber, vintage naily pine floors, and solid exposed oak beams. The home, designed by Herlong and Associates, has a rustic, natural feel that perfectly complements the peaceful marshfront setting. What's great about being a custom builder is taking the things our clients love most and incorporating them into the personality of their homes. We can't wait to see how it all turns out!
The front exterior is prepped and ready for painting.

The view from the back porch on Isle of Hope Road!

Reclaimed wood timber is used on the ceilings as well as the floors.
All of the window trim and door casings are cypress.
Beautiful detailing on the hip-vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom.

ReStructured Outdoor Living

One of the most exciting parts of seeing a major ReStructure project come to completion is going back to the "before" photos to see the incredible transformation these homes experience.  Whether its a complete home remodel or in this case a great outdoor living addition - our talented ReStructure team brings new life to wonderful existing homes!

This home, located in Mt. Pleasant's I'On Village, needed a little bit of an exterior facelift and an outdoor space to better suit the clients needs.  Our team removed overgrown landscape and trees that were literally overshadowing the quaint property, and added perfectly manicured pathways, fresh plantings, a patio, and a privacy fence.  We also re-painted the exterior siding and shutters of the home, added a spacious screened-in porch, and built a custom carport for the client.  Our client is thrilled with this great new space to relax, dine, and entertain guests on beautiful Lowcountry days!
