The distinction of Best of the Best is given to business in several categories, and we are incredibly thankful to receive top honors in the custom home building category. We truly love the community in which we live and build, and our aim is to provide the most enjoyable home building experience from start to finish! Habitat Builders Blitz - Celebration and Thanks
After just one short week, a lot of sweat, (and some tears too) - we can now celebrate a safe, affordable, new home for a deserving family and the completion of the 2016 Builders Blitz! This past Saturday Structures had the privilege of gathering with our homeowner Judy's friends and family, many of the volunteers and trades who participated in the build, and the staff of both JacksonBuilt Homes and East Cooper Habitat for Humanity to dedicate the home and celebrate a new chapter in Judy's life. Several ECHH staff spoke as well as Structures owner, Steve Kendrick, and Richard Jackson, owner of JacksonBuilt Homes giving thanks for an incredible week of hard work and wishing Judy all the best in her new home!
And we simply cannot say thank you enough to the MANY trades, suppliers, donors, and volunteers who made this Builders Blitz possible! Both Structures and JacksonBuilt Homes gathered some of their best trades and suppliers to donate time and material - and in a very busy building season, this was a generous gift! We also had several local restaurants who donated lunches and snacks each day of the build. It was a great reminder that not only do we love what we do - but we love the people we get to spend our days with building up the Lowcountry.

Porches, Paint, and Sheetrock!
The Habitat Builder's Blitz is moving right along this week, and the house is starting to take shape (and have some color!) The early part of the week had windows and doors being installed and electrical and plumbing rough ins complete. And now we are on to exterior trim, building the porches, painting siding, and getting ready to hang sheetrock. It's exciting to see it all come together so quickly, and we are so thankful for the incredible dedication and hard work of our trades out at the job site! Structures and JacksonBuilt Homes have gathered a great team of generous trades who have been working long hours to get Judy and her son into their new home!
Here is a look at what has been happening in the last couple of days:

2016 Habitat Builder's Blitz Kicks Off!
We are thrilled to announce that the 2016 Habitat for Humanity Builders Blitz is officially underway! This is the third time Structures has partnered with East Cooper Habitat for Humanity in building a safe, affordable home for a local family in just one week! This year, we are working along side JacksonBuilt Custom Homes and ECHH to give a single mom and her son a great home here in the Lowcountry. Judy, our new homeowner, has been a joy to work with and has certainly been on the job site each day sweating it out with our amazing trades!
And speaking of our trades - this project would not be possible without the generous support of our trades and suppliers who are donating their time and resources to making this Habitat Blitz possible. We cannot thank them enough!
It has been hot, and we've battled a few rain showers, but so far the Builder's Blitz is going great! Check out a some photos of the first few days of the project:

Structures Earns 2016 GuildMaster Award
Structures Building Company has once again been given the honor of GuildMaster with Highest Distinction by our third-party surveying company, GuildQuality! At the close of each project, using a GuildQuality survey, our homeowners give us feedback on a variety of items including quality of work, schedule, budget, overall satisfaction with Structures and many more. This is a great resource for our company, and helps us find ways to maintain excellence in customer satisfaction and continue to build the highest quality homes in the Lowcountry. The GuildMaster distinction is given to custom builders who receive excellent scores on their surveys, and we are thankful that our clients continue to have a remarkable building experience with Structures!
As one happy client recently responded at the completion of their home:
“Structures Building Company exceeded our expectations in every way during the building of our new home. Their staff is knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with. Throughout the process they communicated consistently, keeping us up to date on the work being done and the construction schedule, as well as promptly answering any questions we had. We have been in our new home about a month, and the quality of construction and attention to detail is evident everywhere. We would absolutely recommend Structures to anyone considering doing a new build or renovation project!”
To view everything our clients have said about their experience building with Structures and our GuildQuality scores, visit our member page HERE. You can also read all about the qualifications for the GuildMaster Award on their website.

For the 8th time in PRISM Award history, Structures Building Company has won the coveted "Excellence in Customer Service Award." The Charleston Home Builders Association PRISM Awards are an annual celebration of excellence in the home building industry and recognize companies and individuals who go above and beyond to build and remodel quality homes and provide exceptional customer service. It is quite an honor to receive the Customer Service Award which is given to the company who has the highest ratings on GuildQuality (a third-party surveying company which receives feedback from each of our clients!)
In addition to this, Structures also took home an award for an incredible DesignBuild project on the Wando River. The beautiful Beau Clowney designed home won the PRISM award for Best Custom Home in its price range. Each of our custom homes are a collaborative effort of everyone here at Structures, and we are grateful when the finished product receives this kind of recognition! "Charleston: The Belle of the South" Featured in Vanity Fair Magazine
It's really fun to see our amazing city receive national attention for its charm and beauty - so we were thrilled to see Charleston in an 8-page spread in the always glamorous Vanity Fair magazine. Be sure and pick up the March 2015 issue to see their top restaurant and hotel picks as well as best places to explore the city. The feature quite nicely describes our town as a "genteel community known for its warm hospitality. A friendly nod and a sincere 'welcome' await." We couldn't agree more.

Lowcountry Orphan Relief Clothing Collection
One of our core values at Structures is giving back to our community, and we are often on the lookout for local non-profit organizations with which to partner. Over the years, we have been privileged to serve alongside East Cooper Habitat for Humanity, send care packages to One80Place, bowl for a cause for the Florence Crittenton Program of SC, and so many other worthy causes both locally and globally.
During the month of March, we will be collecting needed items for Lowcountry Orphan Relief, a Charleston based non-profit whose mission is to provide support services and basic necessities to abused or neglected children in our area. One of their main means of support is donation of clothing, toiletries, and school supplies.
Our team will be collecting these items this month, and we'd love for YOU to join us and contribute as well! Currently LOR is especially in need of the following for boys and girls:
- Pants 5T and up
- Shoes size 6-13
- School Uniforms (navy/white polos, khaki/navy pants) size 5T to 16
- Underwear and Undershirts (men & women size small to 2XL)
- Toiletries (soaps, toothpaste, lotions, deodorant)
Please give us a call if you need more details, and we invite you to stop by our office with your donations! You can also visit the Lowcountry Orphan Relief website for more info.

Charleston Restaurant Week!
If you've been following our blog for a while, you know that Charleston Restaurant Week (January 7th - 18th) is one of our favorite Lowcountry offerings! And this year is no exception - the list of incredible culinary options has grown tremendously with several new restaurants opening in Downtown Charleston recently. Not all of the options are downtown, though. There are several restaurants in West Ashely, Daniel Island, Kiawah Island, and more. Restaurant Week deals offer several courses at outstanding restaurants for various reduced price points. Included this year, too, are great budget friendly lunch options as well! (Three meats, two sides, and a dessert for $19 at Swig and Swine...yes, please!)
With so many fantastic choices - you really can't go wrong. But my personal pick (since you asked...) would be the coziest cocktail bar with an old-fashioned feel - The Gin Joint. Featured in Garden & Gun magazine as one of the 50 best Southern bars, The Gin Joint is locally owned by Joe and MariElena Raya, and will be offering $10 cocktail + food pairings for Restaurant Week. Check out their menu HERE and enjoy this week!
